Who doesn't love a silly clown??!!  We watched a video about a clown that worked at the circus and did funny things because he loved watching everyone laugh.  We made a funny clown puppet of our own and sang a song about a clown too.

Check out these cute pictures...

Gavin and his mommy made silly clown cupcakes!!  I think these are super cute!!  Thank you Gavin!!
We played a counting game at circle time and then went back to our seats to do this paper. We counted how many balls the clown could juggle and added stickers to our paper.  Have your child count them for you.

We read the ever popular Eric Carle book...The Hungry Caterpillar.  We also read a nonfiction book that had great pictures of how a caterpillar changes into a butterfly.  We sang our shape song and made a caterpillar out of circles.

Noah brought some awesome caterpillar snacks today!!  The boys and girls loved how the fruit caterpillar looked just like the one in our story!!  And the rice krispy caterpillars were a hit too!!  Thank you so much to all of my preschool mommies for making snack time so much fun!!  Thanks Noah!!!  Your caterpillar snacks were super cool!!
We also read our Alphatales story... Copycats and practiced tracing the letter Cc.  I couldn't resist taking a picture of Cruz in her cat outfit!!!  These girls are too cute!!

We watched a little video about clowns today and how they like to be silly and make people laugh.  We talked about the sound that letter C makes and we practiced tracing over some words today.  I am really seeing some improvement with their fine motor skills.  We counted how many balls the clown was juggling and put stickers on our papers.  Emma brought circus animal crackers for snacks and bananas too.

We sang a song about shapes and made a clown using different shapes.  Ask your child to name the shapes for you.  I had another activity planned but sometimes things take a little longer than expected and I knew they needed a break.  We went outside and enjoyed the wonderful weather.  Have a great weekend!  See you on Tuesday.  Don't forget that book orders are due next Wednesday, October 16th.  Thanks!

We read the classic story The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.  We talked about the life cycle of a butterfly and how it starts as a little tiny egg and the transformation it makes from a caterpillar.  We talked about how it makes a cocoon and sleeps for a very long time!!  Rhexx and her mommy made cute caterpillar snacks made from rice krispy treats and grape caterpillars too!!

We read about our action alphabet friend....C the Caterpillar cuts...."c", "c", "c"  The action that goes with our sound is to hold out your pointer finger and your middle finger like a pair of pretend scissors .  Open and close them and pretend to cut while you say "c-c-c".  We do this because when our caterpillar friend eats leaves her mouth actually cuts the leaves.
We practiced tracing the letter Cc today.  We talked about shapes and made a circle caterpillar in the shape of a letter C!  I was sooooooo proud of everyone's cutting today!!  THANK YOU so much for helping them practice at home!!  It is making a huge difference!!

We read about our new Action Alphabet friend....C the Caterpillar who cuts through leaves as he crunches.  To help us remember the sound letter C makes we hold out our fingers like scissors and pretend to cut as we say "c, c, c".  I can't believe how well the students are remembering the actions!!  We also read The Very Hungry Caterpillar...a story about a little caterpillar who eats so much food all week long he gets a tummy ache.  He eats so much he is no longer a little caterpillar but rather a big fat caterpillar.  He makes himself a cocoon and rests for 2 weeks and then surprise....he turns into a beautiful butterfly.  We worked on our handwriting and we made cute caterpillars by cutting circles.  Ella brought the cutest snacks to go with our story.  She brought grapes that looked like the very hungry caterpillar and then she brought some different foods that he ate in the story.  I loved that the food had holes in them that looked like the caterpillar munched right through!!  The kids thought that was so fun!  I have the best parents!!
Thank you Ella for bringing such a ccccute snack!!! :)

We reviewed the letter Cc today and sang our alphabet song. . . Cathy Cook.  We talked about things you see at a circus and watched a video about a clown.  We put our fine motor skills to the test again with our clown project.  Everyone has shown improvement with their scissor skills!!  I am so proud!  We continue to work on our shapes everyday.  Quiz your child on their shapes this weekend.  Izzy Miles brought super fun clown cookies to eat today!!  The kids loved that they were on a lollipop stick.  Thanks Izzy!
I tried to keep their clown at school so I could hang them up on the bulletin board but I thought two of them were going to have meltdowns!!  I didn't figure it was worth the tears!! ha!  I guess we will just keep the Busy Bees up for a while longer!!  I am just excited that they have such a sense of pride in their work that they really want to take it home to share with you.  Have a great weekend.  This would have been up at 12:30 this afternoon but as usual I keep having internet problems!! :(  :(

Today we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.  Brooklyn brought us her big book and caterpillar puppet to use.  We sang our shape song and talked about what shape we could use to make a long caterpillar.  The students did a great job cutting out lots of circles to build their very own caterpillar.  I appreciate that some of you are really working hard at home and I can really tell the difference!!  We did some circle time activities and songs too.  Brooklyn served up another super cute snack. . . . you guessed it!!  Caterpillars of course!  Rice Krispy caterpillars,  gummy caterpillars and Capri suns!!  All to help us learn the letter Cc!!  Thanks Brooklyn!  We learned a caterpillar poem and met our new Alphabet friend Cathy Cook.  We finished up our day by  playing on the playground.  (even though I know I will pay the price with my allergies!!!  uggh!)
