Today we learned about the color red. At circle time we took turns sharing what we wore to school. We learned a fun poem about a red apple, we read a book about our alphabet friend Apple Annie and we made a cute apple project. The students practiced using their glue bottles and glued red squares to their apple shapes. They did a great job!!
Sariah brought red snacks for us to eat!! She brought red pepperoni's, crackers and cheese, red grapes and red craisins too! Thanks Sariah! :)
Check out our red clothes.....(It is so hard to get a group picture with all ten kiddos looking at me!!....but we tried!)
We read a really silly story about a white dog that goes on a very messy adventure. First he sits under the table and someone drops some jam and splat!! ....dog has a red spot on his back. He ends up with a green spot from playing in the grass, a pink spot from ice cream, an orange spot from stepping on a juice box and on and on until he is very messy! We had fun retelling the story using my big story board dog....pardon the drawing...I never claimed to be an artist! ;) As we read together students took turns placing the colored spot in the right place on dog. They loved getting to participate. We made our very own colorful dog to take home. We also played a color matching game with dog bones. We practiced counting and we practiced using our scissors too. Because so many students are struggling with scissor skills I will be sending extra work home for awhile. THANK YOU sooooo much for your help. If we work together your child will learn that much faster and they will not be so frustrated at school. (and neither will Mrs. Manning!! ha!)
Check out the cookies that Parker brought us for snack time!! They look just like Dog's bone in our story!! Thanks Parker!!
We learned our new color song and made a list of things that can be the color orange. We cut and pasted orange pictures and we painted a paper plate orange too. We turned it into something special for Halloween!!! You guessed it.....an orange jack-o-lantern!! Baylor brought some yummy popcorn and yes....some of it was cheesy orange popcorn! She brought orange juice and an orange jack-o-lantern craft too! Thanks Baylor! I love all of the orange clothes everyone wore! I will see everyone on Tuesday for our Halloween Party!!
Today we talked about the color red. We read a book about colors and then we made a list of things that are red. We even learned a Red song! You can listen to it on our Just for Fun Page! We took turns at circle time showing off the red that we wore to school! We colored some pictures red and we made a red apple craft. We played with red apple puppets and used them to do the Hokey Pokey! Baylor brought super cute RED snacks for us to eat. She brought red apple ladybugs, red punch and even red napkins! The kids thought it was pretty silly to eat ladybugs for snacks!! ;) Thanks for helping make our red day even more fun!
This is such a fun story!! The kids wanted me to read it over and over again! Three times was plenty for me! The story is about a white dog with one spot that has a very colorful day. He ends up quite messy after getting a red spot from strawberry jam, a green spot from the grass, a yellow spot from a bee, a purple spot from a marker, etc!! The poor white dog was quite a mess and he had to take a bath to get all of the spots to come off! For our activity today, we read the story again and had to color all of dog's spots. Then we painted with the Do-a-dot paints. (they love these!!) Emilee shared Clifford the Big Red Dog cookies for snack time and she had our white dog from our story on our drinks.....colorful spots and all!! Thanks for bringing such a fun snack!! :) Finally we played a listening game at circle time to help us learn our colors. We worked on our positional bee book too. A couple of people asked about book orders today.....If you order by tomorrow it is fine. The Big Bees are turning their orders in tomorrow and I will finish with my order tomorrow evening. If you have any questions let me know.
Today we had fun learning about the color RED! We learned a song about red . . . you can find it on the "Just for fun" page under color songs. Let your child watch the video and sing the song for you!! We took turns showing everyone all of the red we wore to school today. We also made a red apple. We colored and we learned how to use our glue bottles today. When we use glue to help us remember to use just a little we say. . . ."Drip. Drop. Not a lot!" They did a great job! Isabella brought a red snack for us to eat!! Yummy watermelon! She brought red napkins too! The kids thought that was pretty special. Some of them wanted to save their napkin!! They are so funny! And of course we had to go play outside to enjoy this beautiful weather!! Everyone had a Busy Bee Day so they earned a piece of red candy for red day!!
We read a silly story about a dog who has a very messy colorful day. He starts off being a white dog but throughout the day he gets himself into all sorts of messes and ends up having colorful spots all over him. We had fun decorating our white dog with colorful spots. We used stickers which are great for building fine motor skills and we painted some of our spots too! We finished our school book that we have been working on. Listen to your child read their book. Shannon brought dog treats for us to eat!! OK. . . . they were really graham crackers shaped like dog bones!!! But we had fun pretending they were real dog treats!!
