Halloween is always such an exciting day in the preschool!! The kids just love wearing their costumes to school!! They all looked so cute. Thank you so much for sending in all of the snacks and the goodies for our treat bags!! They made out pretty well! They enjoyed taking turns passing out their treats at the spooky house. We watched a Halloween cartoon while we ate our treats. We played several games and made a spooky house picture too. I apologize for missing school on Tuesday. We didn't get to paint our Halloween project and I really didn't want to do anything too messy because they had their costumes on and we just didn't have the time. We listened to a story about a witch and a ghost. Ask your child what kind of house they lived in. Have a fun and safe Halloween with your little goblins!!
We read Dog's Colorful Day and reviewed the letter Dd. We made a dog craft and played a dog game to help us practice our colors. We practiced our numbers and reviewed our shapes too!! I had lots of requests for extra music time so we did some singing today too!! I love when they learn through music. . . .they have so much fun!
Anna brought snacks to share with the class and she wore the cutest dog hat ever!! We thought it would be a good idea to take her picture with our favorite doggie . . . . Kirby!! :) We finished painting dots on our dinosaurs too!!
We read If the Dinosaurs came back. It is a silly book with lots of silly pictures that got lots of giggles today!! We thought it would be pretty funny if we could ride to school on a dinosaur instead of a car!! We practiced writing our names again today. For those students who have mastered their first names we still need to practice writing with a steady hand and learning to use our school lines. (top, bottom and dotted lines) Everyone works at a different pace but I do need some of the students to practice at home in order to get this mastered. Some students still need to practice simply tracing and we will be isolating the first letter to work on in their name. I have sent home practice pages for some students in their folders today. Please check your child's folder......................thanks!
Now back to dinosaurs!! We painted a dinosaur today. . . they were still too wet to send home.. . . . and we want to add dots to our dinosaurs too! Jackson brought dinosaur eggs to eat for snacks today!! They even had dinosaurs hatching out of them!! (Fruity pebble marshmallow krispies!!) They were Dino-mite!! Thanks Jackson!! Your friends loved taking home a dinosaur today!! :) Finally, we did some counting practice and put dots on our big letter D!!
We reviewed the letter Cc today and sang our alphabet song. . . Cathy Cook. We talked about things you see at a circus and watched a video about a clown. We put our fine motor skills to the test again with our clown project. Everyone has shown improvement with their scissor skills!! I am so proud! We continue to work on our shapes everyday. Quiz your child on their shapes this weekend. Izzy Miles brought super fun clown cookies to eat today!! The kids loved that they were on a lollipop stick. Thanks Izzy!
I tried to keep their clown at school so I could hang them up on the bulletin board but I thought two of them were going to have meltdowns!! I didn't figure it was worth the tears!! ha! I guess we will just keep the Busy Bees up for a while longer!! I am just excited that they have such a sense of pride in their work that they really want to take it home to share with you. Have a great weekend. This would have been up at 12:30 this afternoon but as usual I keep having internet problems!! :( :(
Today we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. Brooklyn brought us her big book and caterpillar puppet to use. We sang our shape song and talked about what shape we could use to make a long caterpillar. The students did a great job cutting out lots of circles to build their very own caterpillar. I appreciate that some of you are really working hard at home and I can really tell the difference!! We did some circle time activities and songs too. Brooklyn served up another super cute snack. . . . you guessed it!! Caterpillars of course! Rice Krispy caterpillars, gummy caterpillars and Capri suns!! All to help us learn the letter Cc!! Thanks Brooklyn! We learned a caterpillar poem and met our new Alphabet friend Cathy Cook. We finished up our day by playing on the playground. (even though I know I will pay the price with my allergies!!! uggh!)
Today we read about Bubble Bear and learned about the letter Bb. We pretended that our bears were riding bikes and had a crash. We talked about getting boo boos and how we can fix them up with band-aids. I gave the students bears with boo boos on them and they had to take the band-aids and cover the boo boos up. They had a lot of fun with this and wow did we work on fine motor skills!! Thank you so much for sending in the band-aids. They thought it was so much fun to share them so their bear could have several kinds of bandages. Hannah brought bear cupcakes for everyone to eat. . . . super cute! And we watched a bear video while we had snacks. Finally, we practiced tracing letter Bbs and sang the shape song.
Today we had fun learning about the letter Bb with our friend Blue. She also helped us learn our shapes too. We made a really cute book to bring home to help us practice naming our shapes. Please listen to your child name the shapes in their book. We found shapes in our room and learned a shape song. We practiced tracing the letter Bb too. We sang Happy Birthday to our friend Izzy Lopez! She brought super cute Blues Clues cookies. . . they were even personalized!! The kids thought this was pretty special that their name was on their cookie! Thanks Izzy for making Blues Clues day super fun!! Her grandma (and my friend!) Mary Bertram owns the bakery in town. . . The Mixing Bowl. So if you need something special for a birthday or even for preschool she has an awesome selection of treats! Yes. . . .I guess I just did a commercial for my friend!! She may have to pay me for this advertising!! In cookies and cupcakes of course!! hee! hee! :)
Check out Izzy's Blues Clues shirt her mom made!! She is super
creative !! She sells her things too. I will have to get her website so you can check it out sometime!!
