Today we read about our friend Ollie Octopus who lives in the Ocean. We made a list of O words and circled all of the letter Os. We played Bingo using fruit loops (mini letter os!!) and we made an Octopus project too. The students traced the letter o's and then glued fruit loops to their paper. I think more o's ended up in our tummy's than on our papers!! Kirby enjoyed this project too!! He spent most of his time under the tables eating his share of o's too!! Tatum brought Oreo cookies and orange milk to share!! The kids thought the milk trick was pretty fun!
Well the kids are always excited when they get to go upstairs to cook in the kitchen! It cracks me up.....like they have never seen a house before!! Jack brought everyone noodles to make!! They had to pour in their own water and mix it up and then they watched a little tv in the living room while I microwaved them. It took a little longer than I thought!! But they loved it. We played a noodle game (see the pic below) where we had to sort the capital and lowercase noodles in the correct pan. We were supposed to make silly noodle faces but we ran out of time. :/ oh well.....they seemed to enjoy the day and I think cooking noodles will help them remember letter Nn! We will try to make Noodle faces another day! Especially since I have already colored lots of pasta with food coloring!!
We read a book about different animals that build nests and all of the things they use to build them. Gradyn brought nest snacks with chocolate letter Nns!!...they were super yummy! Unfortunately I took a picture of the snack and forgot to take one of Gradyn and of our nest project!! I am so sorry!! :( We also read about our Alphabet friend....Naught Newt!! He painted his name on the wall using nail polish!! No No Naughty Newt!!
Monster Day is always fun! Who doesn't like listening to spooky, silly monster stories??!! We made monster puppets and recited the Five Ugly Monsters Poem. Check out Jack's Monster shirt!! Too cute! Emilee brought a really scary snack....a big Monster cake!! Yikes....the kids loved it!! I love the monster tub she brought her drinks in too!! We used it to play a game so I am definitely stealing that idea and making one of my own!! Thanks Emilee for sharing such a fun snack!!
The kids all know that I love Mickey Mouse. I have been to Disney World six times and I would love to go back again! I have so many wonderful family memories and it just makes you feel like a kid when you are there! So of course......I had the kids make a Mickey Mouse project and we watched The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse while we enjoyed Baylor's adorable Mouse sandwiches! How clever are those!! Who doesn't love uncrustables??!! And you would have thought the kids just won the jackpot when they saw Baylor's chocolate milk!! We c
To help us learn about the letter Ll....we sang Mary had a Little Lamb and made cute little lambs out of cotton balls. Gabriella brought in her little lamb and we thought it looked just like Lulu lamb from our story. Lulu loved to laugh but she was always laughing at her friends. We had lots of discussion about when is the right time to laugh and when we need to be careful not to hurt other's feelings. Gabs brought in lamb cookies and letter Ls too!! Thanks for making our day extra special! :)
We read about K the Kangaroo who loves karate and practiced our karate kicks to help us remember the sound K makes. We learned a fun song about a kangaroo and practiced writing the letter K.. I hid letter Ks around the room and we hopped around like kangaroos searching for the hidden letters. Ayden brought cute kangaroo cups filled with KitKat bars and Koolaid drinks too. They were so excited to take their kangaroos home!! We also finished up making our cute snowmen project.
Today we listened to a story about a king who loved to count. Drake brought us king crowns and we made counting wands too. We used them as pointers and counted different objects in our classroom. We glued a star to a marker so we used our counting wands to practice writing our numbers too. Drake brought Koolaid and KitKat bars for snacks. The kids thought it was fun to find the letter K on their drink and on their snack bag. We also learned to sing our numbers to ten.
