![]() We were really busy today making our Leprechaun Traps! We read a book about how to catch a leprechaun and we decided that to catch one we could use a rainbow because everyone knows that is where Leprechauns keep their pot of gold!! Because St. Patrick's Day isn't until Sunday we are leaving them out and will check them on Monday morning. We are all hoping to catch one of those sneaky guys!! Mrs. Manning might consider retiring if we do!! ha! We made Leprechaun hats too! Check them out... Izzy brought stuff for us to make Shamrock Shakes...ice cream, sprite and rainbow sprinkles! She also brought one of our new favorites crackers, cheese and sausage! They all ate so much!! I know they probably won't eat much lunch today!! Yippee!!! The weather was beautiful today!! We went outside to get some fresh air and to do our favorite thing of all PLAY!!!
Unfortunately, we did not catch a leprechaun today but we came pretty close! This morning when the students arrived we noticed a rainbow hanging on our whiteboard. It was a clue!! We had to find lots of rainbows clues that led us to a treasure chest filled with gold necklaces and candy in the yard by the playground. When we went back inside to listen to our Green Shamrocks story we were interrupted by little footsteps and giggling upstairs!! We just knew those little leprechauns were hiding upstairs!! We decided to set up our traps and go outside so maybe they would sneak downstairs when it was nice and quiet! Well.......we were right!! When we came back inside there were green streamers hanging in our room, gold pieces all over the place and our traps had treats inside. We didn't catch an actual leprechaun but a few of them must have dropped their hats in our classroom. We found six hats. I am hoping they will come back for them this weekend!! Cole brought us some fun St. Patrick's day treats. . . Lucky Charms in green bowls, with green spoons AND green milk!! I had to convince the kids that it still tasted just like white milk!! After a little taste they were fine!! He also brought green drinks and rainbow cookies! It was a treat a leprechaun would love!! We had such a great time today. . . . THANK YOU!!!! Thank you so much for helping your child make their trap!! I know these projects can be a lot of work but I still have past students tell me that they remember setting traps and it is one of their favorite preschool memories!! I could not do all of these things without your help!! I appreciate all that you do to help me!!
Have a great Spring Break!! See you back on Wednesday, March 21st. This week we spent all of our time talking about those sneaky little green leprechauns!! On Monday we read the Ten Lucky Leprechauns and played a counting game. We talked about how leprechauns hide gold at the end of a rainbow. We painted beautiful rainbows with our watercolors and we listened to a rainbow song. Keegan J. brought rainbow cupcakes with gold candy on top!! We practiced writing the letter Ss and then we started talking about what kind of traps we were making at home to catch a leprechaun!!
