Today we read Jungle Jim the Jellyfish. We made a really cute jellyfish craft and we played a jellyfish counting game. We practiced writing letter Jj and reading our sight words. We have been working on a website together at circle time that is designed for early education and beginning readers. My hope is to get a couple of laptops or tablets for the kids to use at buddy stations. Of course I would love ipads or touch tablets but I don't even have a personal one for myself. I can dream.....maybe someday!! :) Anyways, you may want to check out the website and teach your child to navigate around and choose some different activities. The kids told me I had to put this link on the Busy Bee website. Baylor reprimanded me for not being caught up on our blog!! LOL!! I love knowing that they enjoy it just as much as you parents...probably more!!! Just click on the link below and have fun!!
Emilee brought the cutest jellyfish snacks to share!! aka....strawberry applesauce! Pretty clever, huh??!! Thanks Em!!
We read about our Alphabet friend Jungle Jim the Jellyfish. We looked at pictures of real jellyfish and then we made a jellyfish craft and practiced writing letter Jj. Izzy brought us jellyfish cupcakes and a pet jellyfish in a bottle!! Thanks Izzy!
J is for Jingle Bells.....
We learned a little poem called the Five Little Jingle Bells and we made a project to go with it. We celebrated Ava's birthday and she brought everyone treat bags and put jingle bells on our juice! She also brought jello which the kids thought was fun because our alphabet friend Jungle Jim the Jellyfish crashes his jeep and lands in jello! Great idea Ava! I feel terrible because I forgot to take a picture of Ava because we were so busy working on our family Christmas presents. I am going to ask her to wear her birthday shirt because it is soooooo cute and take her picture so I can share it with you!! You will just have to wait and see!!
Check out the songs we have been singing!!
I know. . . .I know. . . I am a little behind!! I am behind on my blogging with both classes!! SO Sorry! I guess I am a little stressed with Christmas and everything!! I can never seem to get it all done. :/ But I will keep on trying!! We worked on letter Jj this week but with all of the Christmas excitement it is always difficult to stay focused!! We have done several Christmas activities and one that is top secret!! You will find out Christmas morning. . . . if they can wait that long to give it to you!! We had some super cute snacks on Wednesday from Nick to help us remember that J is for Jingle Bells!! In fact, I thought they were so cute I cheated and went to the store to buy premade cookies and all of the things you would need to make them and brought them to Youth Group for the kids to make!! Thanks for letting me steal your idea Nick . . . even the big kids loved your jingle bell cookies!! Your homemade cookies were much better though!!
We learned the poem Five Little Jingle Bells and we cut jingle bells from foil. We sang and danced with our jingle bells and we listened to the video below over and over again until Mrs. Manning couldn't do it again!!! Now you can listen to it at home!! (over and over and over and over again!! LOL! )
We read about our new Alphabet friend. . . Jungle Jim the Jellyfish and sang his song. We also watched a few videos online so we could see what a real jellyfish looks like and how they swim and glow in the water. I LOVE using the internet in the classroom! Books are, of course awesome and hands on, but to see the jellyfish really swimming today was amazing!! They wanted to watch it over and over. We made our own jellyfish. It is fun to see that many of the students are becoming a little more artistic and adding such details to their projects. We made our letter Jj books. Be sure to listen to your child read!! Most of them can pick out our sight words and use the picture clues to figure out the rest!! I am super proud!! :) We also had letter J cookies!! Thanks Brady!!
