We reviewed our Letter of the Day ......Dd!! We read about our Alphatale friend Detective Dog. She was on the hunt for some donuts that disappeared from the diner. We helped her follow the clues to find the donuts. The trail of donut dust led her to a door!! When Detective Dog walked through the door it was very dark!! Ask your child what happened next??!! (Detective Dog's friends surprised her with a birthday party!! There were lots of donuts and dancing at the party!!)
Gradyn brought us dog bones to eat at snack time!!! Ok.....they were really dog bone cookies!!
We did some number and color recognition practice and worked at the carpet using clipboards! Anything to change it up....and they think using clipboards to do their work is so cool!!
We played a counting game at circle time and we made our letter Dd book. We also finished up our Counting Coconuts book. We had fun reading all of our books to our reading buddies!!
We practiced writing letter Dd and worked on our sight words and phonics too. We also played outside with our friends. As you can see we had a pretty Dog-gone good Monday!! I had to include a picture of our favorite dog......Kirby!! He loves Preschool.....the kids love him and he knows it!! They spoil him rotten! Not to mention all of the snacks he gets to clean up off of the floor! He is looking pretty shabby!! He goes to the groomer tomorrow! :)

We read If the Dinosaurs came back by Bernard Most and had fun using our imaginations and thinking of other silly things that the dinosaurs could do with us if they came back! We talked about how dinosaurs are extinct and we painted a dinosaur too. We practiced writing letter Dd and played a counting game at circle time.

We are learning the Alphabet forwards and backwards song....yes I said backwards!! Give us a couple of weeks and then I bet your kiddo can do it all on their own!! All in all I would say we had a DINO-mite day!! :)

Today our action alphabet friend was a disco dancing dinosaur!! To help us remember the "d" sound we stomp our feet and point our finger up and down like we are disco dancing!! We watched the funniest video about a dinosaur who had trouble singing the alphabet. The kids were laughing so hard I just had the giggles watching them!! We practiced writing the letter Dd and we worked on our sight words too. We also practiced counting and did a math activity counting dinosaur legs. We learned that some dinos walk on two legs and some walk on four. We read a book about the number zero too. Ava brought Dinosaur sandwiches, Dinosaur fruit snacks and Dinosaur eggs too!! The kids cracked open their paper mache eggs to find a dinosaur inside!! Wow!! I am always amazed by the work that my moms do to make our snack time amazing!! Thank you sooooooo much!! That was a DINO-MITE idea! And the kids really loved it too!! :)
Today we read the book There's a Dragon at my School. This dragon breaks all of the rules and misbehaves at school. We reviewed how we are supposed to act at school in order to have a busy bee day! We also reviewed the letter Dd and the sound that it makes. We learned a new calendar song to help us with our days of the week. Everyone knows how to say the days of the week. . . . .Now we are going to learn how to read and spell them too!! I am very excited that some of the students are wanting to add more words to our sight word list! Yeah!! We are practicing our color words too. Don't forget to check out the songs on our Just for Fun page. The color word songs are an amazing tool to help your child learn how to read.

We read several books about Dinosaurs and painted a dinosaur too. We reviewed our shapes and talked about diamonds. We cut several diamonds to put on our dinosaur craft. Joey wore his dinosaur shirt and brought Dinosaur eggs for us to eat. The kids loved them and they found a surprise when they were eating them too!! We ended our day with some counting activities. It was a DINO-MITE day!!
Today we listened to a story about a dog who loves donuts!! She went to the diner for dinner and wanted to order donuts for dessert.. . . . but they had disappeared!! She followed a trail of donut dust to a door and all of her friends yelled "Surprise!! Happy Birthday Detective Dog!" We heard lots of letter D words in our story!! Rylee brought donuts for snack time and we had donut dust everywhere!! :) We did our phonics paper so we could practice listening for the D sound. We read Dog's Colorful Day and counted lots of spots on dog. We also worked on a listening paper with dogs. I had the students listen to a color and number rhyme. They had to find the number dog on their paper and use the correct color. Finally, we learned our new Frog Street Alphabet Friend Song. . . . Daisy Doll.
We had some DOG_GONE good learning going on today!!
