We read another Pete the Cat story about his white shoes. Pete has a very messy day and his shoes turn all different colors. We practiced singing our color songs and had fun eating Jaxson's snacks he brought. All of the kids were laughing when they saw that it was "cat food"!! Needless to say I had some noisy cats in the classroom today!! Thanks Jax for a really fun snack!!
We made our own Pete the Cat book to help us read color words. Please add this to your child's book box!! We also made a scary black cat!! Ask your child to tell you the sound letter Cc makes.
I caught Rhexx playing with the magnets at Center time and she was so proud of herself for making the word red!! This teacher is pretty stinkin' proud too!! Woot! Woot! Way to go Rhexx!! This is when I love my job!! It is so rewarding watching your students learn and grow!!
I couldn't resist sharing this picture of Jaycee!! Her outfit went with our theme today!! Isn't she the cutest cat??!!
We read our new Alphabet Friend Book Cathy Cook. She liked to cook all sorts of things that start with letter Cc like cookies, cupcakes, candy, carrots, corn and cauliflower. We talked about healthy food and junk food and sorted some food pictures into each category. We went upstairs to the kitchen and we made our very own yummy cupcakes! We talked about how to follow a recipe and what could happen if you didn't. Everyone took turns in the kitchen and they loved wearing their chef hats!!
We made a chef project...I loved seeing everyone's hair!! They turned out so cute!
After our cupcakes cooled we had fun decorating them to look like cats!!
Thanks Jack for sending in all of the goodies to help us decorate our cupcakes!!
I sure was glad to get my two sweet boys back!! They were gone on vacation all last week and I missed them like crazy!! Welcome back Tristen and Ayden!! :)
Today we read the book Little Cloud by Eric Carle. We went outside and looked at the clouds to see what we thought they were shaped like.....lion, rabbit, tree, a person and lots of others!! What do you think the cloud looks like below??? I think I might see an alligator!
We had fun at circle time counting clouds and then we did this worksheet where we rolled a die and wrote the number. Then we glued the correct number of cotton balls to our clouds. I was pretty impressed with some of their numeral writing!! :)
Harley is definitely getting us ready for Halloween! She brought pumpkin cookies and ghost brownies for snack today! Thanks Harley!
We made a counting flip book and worked on our letter Cc handwriting too.
The highlight of the day was definitely cloud writing!! We practiced writing our letters, numbers and names in the clouds!! (shaving cream!) Lots of laughing went on during this activity!! At first they didn't want to put their finger in it to write and the next thing I know they are covered!! They are already asking when we get to do this again!! :)
We read our Alphatale book called Copycats. Clyde and Cleo the two silly cats were always copying off of one another and trying to outdo each other. It was all fun and games until they both spilled their cups of cocoa! We played a copycat game and practiced writing all of the letters in the alphabet. The handwriting today was AMAZING!!!! Gabriella gave everyone a cat sticker to put on their copycat paper today!! Thanks Gabs!! :)
We read Pete the Cat I Love my White Shoes. We played a color game at circle time and made a color word book too. I have been keeping their books that they have been making so we can read them to their reading buddies. Have your child sing you the Pete the Cat song below.
Gradyn is holding the card game we played at circle time. The game helps students recognize their color words. They begged me to play it over and over again!! I love it when they think we are just playing a game and I can see so much learning happening!! Pretty sneaky, huh??!!
OMG!! Aren't these the Ccccutest Ccccats you ever have seen???!!! The kids loved them! Everyone was "meowing" during snack time!! Check out Gabriella's cat shirt!! She is adorable!! Thanks Gabriella!
Gabs and I both decided that everyone should see her whole cat outfit.....
Finally, we sang our color song B-L-A-C-K! And we made scary cats!! Have your child sing the Black song for you.
Howdy Partners!! We had a rootin' tootin' good time on Cowboy Day!! We played horse shoes and had horse races. We even learned how to use a lasso! We worked on letter Cc and made a cowboy project. Kendall brought Cowboy Mix and Capri Sun for us to have at snack time. It was fun seeing everyone in their cowboy duds too!! It was the perfect day to be outside!! Yee Haw!! This cowgirl is tired!!
We reviewed letter Cc today and read Camilia the Cupcake Fairy. We practiced writing the letter Cc and worked on a phonics paper to reinforce words beginning with Cc. We talked about different foods we could cook that start with letter Cc.....corn, cauliflower, cabbage, candy, cookies and of course cupcakes!! We decided to cook our own cupcakes today and we even decorated them like cats!!! The kids looked so cute in their chef hats when they were making their creations! Our day went by super fast but before we left they insisted on reading Pete the Cat again!! I have a feeling that will be our all time favorite book!! Don't forget to wear your cowboy duds on Wednesday!!
Our friend Cathy Cook taught us several "c" words in her book and one of them was. . . . cupcakes!! Today we wore our chef hats and got busy in the kitchen!! We made our own cupcake creations! We decorated our cupcakes with candies and pretzels and of course yummy frosting too. Needless to say. . . . we were pretty messy today. Although we wore aprons I think some of us may have been wearing frosting on our clothes!! I apologize if I didn't get it all cleaned up. We made our very own Cathy Cook Alphabet friend to take home today too.
Howdy Parents!! We had a Rootin' Tootin' good time learning about letter C today!! Everyone looked good in their Cowboy duds!! We practiced writing the letter C and learned a cowboy song. Jase brought Cowboy Cookies to share and we watched Cowgirl Dora. We made some Cowboy trail mix and of course we played Cowboy games too! We had horse races, we played horseshoes and washers. We tossed rattlesnakes and we tried to lasso a horse. I think this Cowgirl needs a nap!!
Don't forget to send your field trip money to school on Friday if you forgot it today. It is $4.00 per person. (even for parents) I do ask that you make other arrangements for siblings. Thank you!!
