Today we learned all about apples!! We talked about how they can be different colors, where they grow and all of the different ways we can enjoy eating apples. Everyone brought an apple to school today and we took turns using my fancy shmancy apple peeler, corer, slicer. The kids thought this was so neat getting to crank it by themselves!! We put the apples into the crockpot and waited and waited all day long.......until FINALLY.....our apples turned to applesauce!!!!!!

We learned a silly poem about an apple and made a cute project to go along with it. Have your child recite the poem for you.
We learned to write the capital and lowercase A and read a story to help us remember the sound that it makes. Ask your child to tell you what sound A makes!! Ask them to tell you why the alligator was angry in our story today!!!
Rhexx was so excited to tell us about her trip to the apple orchard and she brought me the biggest apple I have ever seen!! I forgot to take a picture but I had to share this picture of Rhexx that her mommy took. Adorable!! :)
Today we read The Adventures of Abby Alligator. She wanted to be an acrobat but she was afraid of falling. She wanted to be an artist but she could only paint apples, she wanted to be an astronaut but she met an angry alien. Finally, Abby decided to be an author and write about all of her adventures. We talked about what an author does and we decided that we can all be authors because we are great storytellers!
We practiced being Alligator dentists today!! Poor Mr. Alligator broke all six of his teeth. We had to help fix him up so he can chomp again!!
We had fun counting alligators and playing a matching game. We loved singing Five Little Monkeys Swinging from a Tree!! Listen to your child sing this song!! You will love it! :)
We celebrated Gradyn's Birthday today!! His mommy made a really cool snack with 5 alligators because Gradyn is 5 years old!!
Ayden and Gradyn both wore Alligator shirts today!!
Today we read about ants and played a counting game where we rolled a die and had to place that many ants on our counting mats. We practiced writing the numbers too.
We used magnifying glasses and went outside to look for real ants!!
Ayden brought ant cookies for snack time today!! Thanks Ayden! The kids loved them!

Today we had so much fun sorting the apples everyone brought from home. We sorted them by color and by size. We made some yummy applesauce with our apples too! First we had to peel and core our apples....
Then we took turns adding our ingredients....water, sugar and cinnamon. And then we gave it a good stir and let it cook in our crockpot all day long. It made our classroom smell soooooo good!! Everyone tasted the applesauce and most everyone thought it tasted pretty yummy!
We played a counting game, sang our math songs and made a fun project where we had to practice reading our color words and numbers too. Have your child count their apple seeds for you. (OK...I cheated and used black beans. I didn't want to dig out all of the apple seeds!!)
Jack brought all kinds of goodies for us to dip our apple slices in!! The kids loved it!! They had peanut butter, caramel, nutella, and sprinkles!! I doubt they will ever eat another plain apple again!! I tried the chocolate nutella for the first time.....let me just say.....Thanks a lot Jack!!! That stuff could be dangerous for Mrs. Manning!!

Today we read about our Alphabet friend Apple Annie. We learned a silly poem about an apple and a worm. We made a really cute apple project too. Have your child recite the poem for you. We watched our favorite friend.....Mr. Pencil!! He shows us how to write the letters the correct way. We practiced writing capital and lowercase A. We played our alphabet guessing game and made a counting book too.

Today we had fun reading and learning about the letter Aa. We listened to our Alphatale story The Adventures of Abby the Alligator on CD. Then we sang a song about an alligator. We played a number matching game and then we made an alligator counting project where the students had to cut and paste the alligator's teeth in numerical order. We worked on handwriting and we enjoyed playing outside in this beautiful weather!! Hope it lasts! Brooklyn brought adorable alligator cookies and apple juice for snack time today. They were super fun and yummy too! Thanks Brooklyn! :) Enjoy the pictures from our day and I found a cute alligator video on youtube for the kids to watch.
Today we read a non-fiction book about ants. This book was fascinating to the students. They loved learning interesting facts about these little insects. Ask your child to tell you something they learned about ants. I gave them each a mini magnifying glass and we headed outside to do some investigating!! We found a few ants and counted lots of legs. It was so fun to watch the students in action!! They were soooooo excited when they found an ant! I have a feeling they will all be looking for bugs when I send them home. We learned a funny new song and dance called Dance like you've got Ants in your Pants....you can find it on our Just for Fun Page. Have your child dance for you!! We made an Ants in the Pants craft and we worked on writing the lowercase "a". Izzy Miles brought Ant cupcakes to eat for snacks!! They were Amazingly cute!! They were decorated with green grass and a little slice of watermelon for the ant!! Check them out below to see how cute they were! Today we talked about the letter Aa. We reviewed our Sing and Read Story, Apple Annie. We practiced our handwriting and our sight words...is and for. You may want to make flash cards with our sight words on them and practice with your child at home. Have your child read their letter A paper to you. We also reviewed our Apple Poem that we learned on Monday but the students were most excited about our Apple math lesson today! We played a Roll and Count Dice game and they loved it! Nothing could make me happier than seeing the kids excited about learning!! I have a feeling we will be playing dice games to reinforce counting a lot in our classroom! Anna brought Letter A snacks to share.....Animal Crackers and Apple Juice!! Thanks Anna! So far learning about letter Aa has been Amazing!
Today we started our Alphabet Adventure!! We read about our Alphabet friend Apple Annie and used our big chart to search for letter Aa's. We learned an apple poem that the students enjoyed acting out and made an apple art project too. We practiced our handwriting and worked at our centers. Hannah brought yummy applesauce and apple juice to share for snack time. Don't forget......Book orders are due on Wednesday.
We read The Adventures of Abby Alligator today and made an Alligator book filled with pages that helped us learn to recognize the letter A and the sound A makes. We also played an Alligator matching game to help us recognize our numbers. We counted Mr. Alligators teeth and glued them on. Have your child count the teeth for you at home. We also worked on writing letter Aa. We made Alligator Swamp Floats for snacks today with lime sherbert and Sprite. We used marshmallows and chocolate for the eyes! We will work on letter Bb on Wednesday.
