Don't forget to send something to school on Monday for your child to pass out to their friends. We will be trick or treating at our spooky house!! Jase already bought everyone a large trick-or-treat bag to keep all of the goodies we receive inside so you do not need to send one. Thanks! I can't wait to see all of the costumes!! Have a good weekend!

We made an orange pumpkin and wrote our color word. Have your child spell the word orange for you!! We also made a pumpkin number line to take home and hang somewhere so they can practice their number songs. Today we read Elmo the Elephant and learned that the letter E makes two sounds. To help the students remember the sound that E makes. . . . we call it a smiley sound. We worked on our sight word paper and played a really fun counting game. We took turns rolling the dice and counting the dots. We had to trace the number that matched our roll. Everyone took turns and picked a color for us to use on our Rainbow number paper. Raelee brought Nutter Butter cookies for snacks today. . . . . exactly what an elephant would eat!!
Don't forget to wear Orange on Friday!! Today we read the book There's a Dragon at my School. This dragon breaks all of the rules and misbehaves at school. We reviewed how we are supposed to act at school in order to have a busy bee day! We also reviewed the letter Dd and the sound that it makes. We learned a new calendar song to help us with our days of the week. Everyone knows how to say the days of the week. . . . .Now we are going to learn how to read and spell them too!! I am very excited that some of the students are wanting to add more words to our sight word list! Yeah!! We are practicing our color words too. Don't forget to check out the songs on our Just for Fun page. The color word songs are an amazing tool to help your child learn how to read.
Keegan brought Dragon and Dinosaur cookies to help us remember the letter Dd!! Thanks Keegan! The were DDDDDeeeeelicious!! We read several books about Dinosaurs and painted a dinosaur too. We reviewed our shapes and talked about diamonds. We cut several diamonds to put on our dinosaur craft. Joey wore his dinosaur shirt and brought Dinosaur eggs for us to eat. The kids loved them and they found a surprise when they were eating them too!! We ended our day with some counting activities. It was a DINO-MITE day!!
Today we listened to a story about a dog who loves donuts!! She went to the diner for dinner and wanted to order donuts for dessert.. . . . but they had disappeared!! She followed a trail of donut dust to a door and all of her friends yelled "Surprise!! Happy Birthday Detective Dog!" We heard lots of letter D words in our story!! Rylee brought donuts for snack time and we had donut dust everywhere!! :) We did our phonics paper so we could practice listening for the D sound. We read Dog's Colorful Day and counted lots of spots on dog. We also worked on a listening paper with dogs. I had the students listen to a color and number rhyme. They had to find the number dog on their paper and use the correct color. Finally, we learned our new Frog Street Alphabet Friend Song. . . . Daisy Doll.
We had some DOG_GONE good learning going on today!! Our friend Cathy Cook taught us several "c" words in her book and one of them was. . . . cupcakes!! Today we wore our chef hats and got busy in the kitchen!! We made our own cupcake creations! We decorated our cupcakes with candies and pretzels and of course yummy frosting too. Needless to say. . . . we were pretty messy today. Although we wore aprons I think some of us may have been wearing frosting on our clothes!! I apologize if I didn't get it all cleaned up. We made our very own Cathy Cook Alphabet friend to take home today too.
We had such a good time going to visit Sibley Apple Orchard. We helped make apple cider and went on a hayride too! We went over to the Buckner City Park and had lunch and played on the playground equipment. I would like to thank all of the parents who took time out of their day to go on our trip. I appreciate all that you do!!
Howdy Parents!! We had a Rootin' Tootin' good time learning about letter C today!! Everyone looked good in their Cowboy duds!! We practiced writing the letter C and learned a cowboy song. Jase brought Cowboy Cookies to share and we watched Cowgirl Dora. We made some Cowboy trail mix and of course we played Cowboy games too! We had horse races, we played horseshoes and washers. We tossed rattlesnakes and we tried to lasso a horse. I think this Cowgirl needs a nap!!
Don't forget to send your field trip money to school on Friday if you forgot it today. It is $4.00 per person. (even for parents) I do ask that you make other arrangements for siblings. Thank you!! Today we watched our Frog Street Friend videos and reviewed letters A, B & C. We discussed our story from Friday about Cookie the silly cat. We worked on our phonics paper. Most of the students can pick out the beginning sound in the pictures we pasted to our cats. Have your child tell you the sound that letter C makes. If they have a hard time review the cat paper with them. The more you can reinforce what we do at school the more your child will retain. Have them listen to the song below to help them remember the letter Cc. . . it is one of my all time favorites!! Alex brought Cat treats to share with the class. . . another fun snack!! (they were rice krispy treats) And they were super CCCCute too!! He also brought Hi-C to drink so we had fun looking for the letter C on our drink boxes. Makennah & Brianna even wore cats on their shirts today!! We read a book about a very sneaky cat named Cookie who seems to find trouble every day of the week! This book reinforces calendar concepts as well as the letter Cc. The kids all laughed out loud at the things Cookie did in the story especially when he fell in the toilet! It truly makes my day when I am reading a story and the students get tickled! We practiced writing letter Cc and we played the guessing game. We played a number game and reviewed the numeral zero. Finally, we worked in our ABC Poetry folders and sang our Frog Street Friend Song..............Cathy Cook.
